Ode To The Saxophone
by Lachlan Davidson, 2003
I love the sax.
It’s cool and it’s hot.
I used to hear it on the radio a lot.
I’ve heard it shout and heard it whisper.
Sometimes soggy and sometimes crisper.
Very jazz you'd have to say,
But I saw one in an orchestra one day.
It seemed to sing with glorious ease,
And smile and laugh and taunt and tease.
There’s something else about that sound,
That’s blue and cream and vocal and round.
It’s total music to the max.
You can play it all, on a sax.
